My name is Pat, and I’m always looking for interesting ways to solve problems. We* should have a conversation about technology and design sometime very soon.
*You & I
I served as Product Designer & Front End Lead on this project.
Skyscrapers pose a number of dangers to migratory birds. NYC Audubon has been collecting data about dead and injured birds for a number of years. They have recently created a web-based data collection tool called D-Bird, which allows volunteers to log data from any web browser.
I've been working closely with the creator of D-Bird, to redesign this tool for the responsive web.
Working for our client, Harlem Biospace, my two teammates and I designed and built the prototype version of a web platform code-named “CoLab”. CoLab is a multi-sided platform for Entrepreneurs, Researchers, Investors and Service Providers working in the BioTech space. This project was facilitated by General Assemb.ly.
I conducted user interviews and researched the individual member companies of Harlem Biospace. I played a large role in the interaction design for the CoLab platform and interface. I built the Axure prototype that we used to make our client pitch.
I worked in a group of three. We had been tasked with designing additional functionality for Fandango's web and mobile ticket-sales platforms*. This was my first opportunity to work in a collaborative UX Design environment. I was very lucky to be part of this fast-moving team.
*This was an educational exercise at General Assemb.ly
I conducted user interviews, did competitive and comparative analysis of ticket services, and participated in a highly collaborative ideation and design process. I used Axure to design a web mockup. I collaborated on an Axure prototype for the Fandango iPhone app.
In 2014, I made it my goal to become competent with HTML and CSS. I very recently hand-coded this webpage. This is one of my first digital crafts. I hope to have many more in the near future. Let me know if you see any typos.
Here is a copy of my résumé. I used Adobe Illustrator to make the PDF, and a text editor to make the responsive web version. I enjoy using design tools as well as development tools to build prototypes and mockups. In either case, I am always aiming for consistency, communication, and usability.
